Years ago, I never imagined leaving a successful IT career to help run our struggling family hardware store. Retail wasn’t part of my plan. But when my husband, Tracy, asked for help, I stepped in.
By focusing on people instead of products, we transformed the store into a place our community loved—and eventually sold it successfully.
What I didn’t expect was what came after.
After reaching the goal, I found myself asking the same question many high achievers quietly face: Who am I now? What comes next?
That season taught me powerful lessons about identity beyond titles, purpose beyond roles, and the importance of slowing down before rushing forward.

I started working part-time for the store shortly after Tracy and I were married in 2013.

We started our store reset and remodel in 2017.

Held our first in-store event, Small Business Saturday, Nov. 2017, where we invited local small businesses to sell in our store.
In 2015, I left my career as an IT Project Manager to work full-time in the store.

Held our first Kids Craft Saturday event, Dec. 2017 (we partnered with Valspar to have kids aprons made for our events).

2020 COVID, we were approached by a potential buyer. Although they didn't work out, we started preparing to sell.
